First Time Visit
If you are preparing to visit us for the first time, WELCOME! We are honored that you would consider being our guest. Below you can learn more about our services and what to expect. We look forward to meeting you.
When Should I Show Up?
Our Sunday School starts at 10:00 am and our worship service begins at 11:45 am. So that you wonβt feel rushed, we do recommend that you arrive 15 minutes early. That will provide you with sufficient time to locate the classroom or sanctuary and get settled in before things get started.
What Should I Wear?
Attire varies from person to person. Some dress casually, while others dress up. Our desire is that you wear something comfortable. However, our service is a gathering to worship God so we do ask that you dress in a way that is respectful and appropriate for the occasion.
Preaching Style
Our pastor preaches the Bible verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter, and book-by-book. Series of sermons are usually through a whole book of the Bible; however, there are occasions when a brief series of sermons will deal with a specific theme or topic. To watch past sermons consider visiting our Sermons page.
Music Style
Our music is often a mixture of classic and modern hymns and contemporary praise songs. Our goal in our congregational singing is to praise our God for who he is and what he has done; therefore, we strive to choose songs that are biblically sound and honoring of our God.
Giving
As a guest, you are not expected to give in any way. As part of our regular service, we do provide an opportunity to our regular attenders and members to worship God through the giving of their tithes and offerings. The desire in such giving is to honor God, show that our trust and dependence is on him, and to help support FBC Glendora in the work of proclaiming Christ.
Communion
We celebrate communion together as a congregation every first Sunday of the month. Our communion service is both open and closed. It is open to all who have made a profession of faith in Christ, trusting him for the forgiveness of your sins and have been baptized. If you are visiting and have not yet trusted in Christ as your savior or have not yet been baptized we ask that you respectfully observe, but not participate. During the communion worship, we use grape juice and Matzah (Jewish cracker/bread) which represents the blood that Jesus shed and his body that was broken on the cross for the forgiveness of the sins of all who place their trust in him.
Join us on Wednesday nights at 7:00 PM. We spend our time in prayer and interacting with the the Scriptures in a study of God's Word.
Step 1: Exploring Membership Class
Attend our Exploring Membership Classes to learn about our church's history, mission, beliefs, and expectations. This is an excellent time for you to ask any of those burning questions you have before committing to membership. Please note that attendance of these classes does not obligate you to join our church, but we hope that after the classes you will take this next step in your walk of faith. Class sessions and times can vary so please check the church bulletin or request more information by emailing the office.
Step 2: Meet with the Pastor
It's important for the pastor to get to know those who are personally under his care. It's also essential for members to know their pastor. This meeting gives additional opportunity to explore any personal questions you might have that may not have been appropriate in a larger group setting.
Step 3: Baptism
FBC Glendora practices believer baptism. If you have not yet been baptized by emersion it will be necessary to follow up in obedience to Christ in order to meet the requirements for membership.
Step 4: Affirmation of Membership
Congratulations! Steps 1 through 3 have been completed. At this time the pastor will present the individual for membership before the church during a business meeting. Following affirmation of membership, the individual will be presented before the whole congregation at the following Sunday morning service.
What about transfer of membership?
If you are coming from a like-minded or sister church, please mention this during the meeting with the pastor. We will then follow up with your previous church to provide continuity of pastoral care.
